Whimsical Gelateria & Every Sundae by Cielo Dolci

   Summer is back! This also means that the ice-cream season is back as well! Therefore, we notice that sprouting of chilly desserts has begun with emphasis on soft-serve. Today, i am going to share with you two premium ice-cream outlet, founded by the local Italian ice-cream expert--Cielo Dolci. They are the Whimsical Gelataria in Solaris, Mont Kiara & Every Sundae in Damansara Uptown.

   Just a little bit of background check. Cielo Dolci is a local ice-cream chain company, specializing in Italian ice-cream of high quality and unique combination of flavours. We had heard about it in Paradigm Mall, offering their signature Nasi Lemak ice-cream few years back. Now, they are targeting a bigger market by the invention of soft-serve, pairing with delicious and crispy waffle. It is the ice-cream chain to look for when you are in town!

1. Whimsical Gelateria & Caffe, Solaris, Mont Kiara

Interesting ice-cream flavours for you to test out before ordering

   Mr. J and i visited this cute little hut of Cielo Dolci in Solaris, Mont Kiara few months back. Waffle was the trending thing back then. Therefore, we headed to Whimsical Gelateria by Cielo Dolci and tried out two scoops of good italian gelato, served with a small piece of crispy waffle. Gelato was made using low fat dairy products, so it is said to be guilt-free for the ladies to enjoy. We had a scoop of Dark Belgian Chocolate for him and a scoop of Rum & Raisin for her.

   I was pleased with both of the ice-cream we gotten that day. Dark chocolate fulfilled its name's potential as being dark, rich, bitter and creamy. Rum & Raisin was a little bit too alcoholic for a daytime consumption. Nevertheless, i love both the intense flavours we had. However, the size of the waffle could be more generous for the price we are paying. I would also prefer a slightly softer inside for the waffle to absorb the melted ice-cream.

   Whimsical Gelateria also offers their signature cotton candy coffee with gula melaka syrup. It is definitely a sweet and cheerful space for an afternoon catch-up. We were satisfied with the friendly service and sweet ambiance here.

2. Every Sundae by Cielo Dolci

   Situated on the other side of Klang Valley, housed another brain child of Cielo Dolci--Every Sundae. Opened only for a month or so, Every Sundae quickly gained its fame in the social media for the appealing outlook of fancy soft-serve ice-cream with interesting combinations of sides, sauces and add-ons. This is the dessert cafe to look for whenever you are in the vicinity of the ever happening Damansara Uptown.

Arrays of condiments

   Here's how you place your order in Every Sundae. You have the choice of either choosing from a list of customized best-selling items, or you could customize your own dessert with mix-and-match with the different sections they offer. Choose a base, soft serve flavor, toppings and sauce.

1. Base: Cup, Cone, Orange Crepe, Giant Choux, Giant Cookie, Belgian Waffle

2. Soft Serve: Vanilla Beans, Raspberry Cinnamon Sorbetto, Deep Dark Chocolate, Salted Caramel or The Twist.

3. Toppings: Caramel Popcorn, Cookie Crumbs, Cotton Candy, Lemon Marshmallow, Strawberry Meringue, Cheesecake Crumbs.

4. Sauce: Butterscotch Sesame, Pandan Kaya, Chantilly Cream, Passion Fruit Compote, Berries Compote, Chocolate Fudge.

   During my visit here with my girls, we were definitely confused with choices. Finally, we decided to go with a dark chocolate soft serve on belgian waffle, topped with caramel popcorn and chocolate fudge. Another item would be salted caramel soft serve on giant choux, topped with cotton candy and passion fruit compote. (Such a mouthful)

    Presentation at its top notch. This would be the first time i see such exaggerated presentation for a simple soft-serve. I appreciate the creativity of combining different types of sweets and desserts together to produce a personalised and unique dessert. However, i was not impressed by the consistency and flavors of these soft-serve. It was slightly watery, light and small in amount. The salted caramel soft-serve was way too salty to my preference. Belgian waffle was good but choux pastry was bland and ordinary. Not to mention the over-priced label for each desserts. Anyway, good effort though.

   Overall, Every Sundae is an interesting dessert cafe that warrants a visit as well as Instagram post. If you happen to be around the area, feel free to drop them a visit! Have an enjoyable weekend.
