   I kind of like the combination of sweet and savoury in my breakfast waffle dish. Waffle itself was soft and sweet, i would prefer a little bit bigger portion in this dish. Brother's Scramble Eggs was soft and fluffy, again portion needs to be bigger for hungry siblings like us. Coffee was average, creamy and earthy, just enough to give us a morning kick.


   With so many brunch cafe around the city, i'm still looking for my muse, the one and only that can satisfy my selective palate and please my purse as well.    Summer is back! This also means that the ice-cream season is back as well! Therefore, we notice that sprouting of chilly desserts has begun with emphasis on soft-serve. Today, i am going to share with you two premium ice-cream outlet, founded by the local Italian ice-cream expert--Cielo Dolci. They are the Whimsical Gelataria in Solaris, Mont Kiara & Every Sundae in Damansara Uptown.

   Just a little bit of background check. Cielo Dolci is a local ice-cream chain company, specializing in Italian ice-cream of high quality and unique combination of flavours. We had heard about it in Paradigm Mall, offering their signature Nasi Lemak ice-cream few years back. Now, they are targeting a bigger market by the invention of soft-serve, pairing with delicious and crispy waffle. It is the ice-cream chain to look for when you are in town!

1. Whimsical Gelateria & Caffe, Solaris, Mont Kiara

Interesting ice-cream flavours for you to test out before ordering

   Mr. J and i visited this cute little hut of Cielo Dolci in Solaris, Mont Kiara few months back. Waffle was the trending thing back then. Therefore, we headed to Whimsical Gelateria by Cielo Dolci and tried out two scoops of good italian gelato, served with a small piece of crispy waffle. Gelato was made using low fat dairy products, so it is said to be guilt-free for the ladies to enjoy. We had a scoop of Dark Belgian Chocolate for him and a scoop of Rum & Raisin for her.

2. Every Sundae by Cielo Dolci

   Situated on the other side of Klang Valley, housed another brain child of Cielo Dolci--Every Sundae. Opened only for a month or so, Every Sundae quickly gained its fame in the social media for the appealing outlook of fancy soft-serve ice-cream with interesting combinations of sides, sauces and add-ons. This is the dessert cafe to look for whenever you are in the vicinity of the ever happening Damansara Uptown.

    Presentation at its top notch. This would be the first time i see such exaggerated presentation for a simple soft-serve. I appreciate the creativity of combining different types of sweets and desserts together to produce a personalised and unique dessert. However, i was not impressed by the consistency and flavors of these soft-serve. It was slightly watery, light and small in amount. The salted caramel soft-serve was way too salty to my preference. Belgian waffle was good but choux pastry was bland and ordinary. Not to mention the over-priced label for each desserts. Anyway, good effort though.

   Overall, Every Sundae is an interesting dessert cafe that warrants a visit as well as Instagram post. If you happen to be around the area, feel free to drop them a visit! Have an enjoyable weekend.

LOKL Coffee Company

   Located in one of the busiest circle of KL, LOKL, or you can pronounce it as 'LO-KAL' is packed with busy, hungry white collars during lunch hour. It is housed within the historical British colonial buildings, with chances of parking being zero. Even the nearest paid parking ground costs RM6 per hour. Nevertheless, the foodie couple still risk it all and visited this little cafe during a busy weekday. We had one set lunch, mushroom burger that came with creamy chicken soup as well as a hainanese chicken sandwich.

   We wanted to try out their brunch menu but missed the 11 o'clock mark. We had the two course set lunch which includes a main course with soup. I was pleased with the rich and creamy chicken soup. The herbs pastry added a tinge if texture in this dish. However, both our burger and meatloaf were a major let down. My burger lacked of flavor, meat patty was way too dry and salty. The meatloaf was too small of a portion for its price and nothing great to be remembered. Perhaps next time around, the breakfast will perform better than our lunch experience.

   My coffee was average, rich and creamy, full of aroma and earthy. The orange cake was humbly delicious but i wish it could double up its size for the price we were paying. Overall, a cute little hideout for a lazy afternoon. Hopefully they would slowly introduce some food menu so that i can have another excuse to revisit RGB & The Bean Hive.

Triple C Baked Eggs--RM 25+ Minced beef and beef bratwurst chili corn carne baked eggs served with toasted sundried tomato foccacia    This item here is heavenly delicious. The rich and juicy flavors from the minced beef and beef bratwurst combined wonderfully with the sweet and sour tomato sauce. With 3 runny yolks and generous amount of cheese topping, this is a dish not to be missed.

Eggs Norwegian--RM 25+ Poached eggs on potato Rosti, werved with smoked salmon, avocado slices and passion fruit hollandaise sauce

Perfectly poached eggs with unique passion fruit hollandaise sauce.

Chocolate Guinness Cake--RM 13+ Rich, dense and full of alcohol, too intense to my liking.

Cappucino--RM 11+ Smooth, fragrant and earthy but slightly under the bar

Iced White--RM 12+ Kudos to the syrup bottle for those who like their coffee served sweet

MEAL OF THE DAY

   To be honest, i love the creative and vibrant breakfast menu here, but the price is too high for the market. I love the little china they use for cups and pots, but it could only hold minimal amount of liquid. Humans are never satisfied, we find flaws in everything. Sometimes, it is this spirit that will make us improve and learn to be better in the future right? We enjoyed our time in Yellow Brick Road, but prepare to burn a hole in your pocket dear friends. Weekend can be packed with hungry youngsters, so be sure to catch a spot early! Have a nice day!
