Afternoon Tea on Thirty8, Grand Hyatt, KL

   Good day everyone! I hope you had a great time this weekend. Well, i think it is about time for me to post something epic and thrilling cause, i know, i have been blogging simple stuff. Pardon me alright? Blame my super packed schedule! Today, i'm gonna bring you through an afternoon of being an elegant socialite, sipping tea, trying desserts and chatting with girlfriends, overlooking the perfect skyline of Kuala Lumpur. Yup, no doubt, it has to be a day at Thirty8, Grand Hyatt Hotel.





   I have heard and seen so many photos on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter all about Thirty8's desserts and meals. Therefore, as a passionate food blogger, i must give it a try right? Nah, just an excuse to indulge in expensive atmosphere and wonderful desserts. LOL. Anyway, me and my girls set a date and time to dress up and pretend that we are Gossip Girls and visited this elegant lounge on a perfect afternoon. Be sure you call them up to make a booking before coming.

  Grand Hyatt Hotel is situated off Jalan Pinang, a 15 minutes walk from Pavillion and 5 minutes walk from The Petronas Twin Tower. It might be tricky to locate because it is not a big and tall building. However, if you are coming from Pavillion direction, just take the sky walk towards Jalan Pinang until the end. You can take an elevator down, cross the road and there you reach Grand Hyatt's Lobby. Another tricky thing is, you have to use another lift to reach the hotel's rooms and Thirty8. If you are having trouble looking for direction, simply approach any friendly staffs in the hotel.

  I ordered a must, MUST have dessert in Thirty8, which is their signature cake. The rest of the girls had an English afternoon tea set each with tea of their choices and an addition of chocolate buffet. Basically, Thirty8 offers a table of chocolate desserts and fondue for customers to bite in, with just an addition of RM 30+.

   The afternoon tea set was perfect in all means. Each component was charming and well prepared. Let's start off with the top tier: lavender, chocolate and peanut macarons with biscotti. Second tier: pudding with a caramel tart. Third tier: strawberry cheesecake, cream puff, chocolate opera cake. The lavender, chocolate and peanut macarons were all so delicious and perfectly done. Their crispy skin with chewy texture and creamy butter cream made these macarons so irresistable! The rest of the components were equally fantastic too.

My Thirty8's Signature Cake--RM 25++

ahh, the glorious chocolate, sugar and everything fanstastic~
   Damn it! I got so hungry by just looking at the photos of the Signature Cake! This cake is all about visual over taste. It came out with a dome over a white cake stand and fog from the dry ice placed inside. When the dome was unleashed, there stood a cylindrical chocolate mousse cake with a scoop of banana ice-cream and some fresh raspberries. The presentation just wowed me over! Not only that, the waitress subsequently poured a hot and fragrant caramel sauce on top of the chocolate mousse cake, and the chocolate disc just melted and flowed down to the plate gracefully, like a ballet. I took a bite of the chocolate mousse cake and the amazing chocolatey flavor plus wonderful texture aided by chocolate chips within just made it an A-list cake! The banana ice-cream i thought it was special and it goes really well with the rich and creamy chocolate and caramel. If i were to pick a downside, it will be the sweetness level of the dessert, too diabetic for me.

 If you are willing to pay a bit more (RM30+), you will be entitled to a full access of the chocolate banquet at a corner of Thirty8. However, for us, we were pretty stuffed with our afternoon tea set, so there is no need for the extra calories. Only take this chocolate buffet if you are a huge fan of chocolate and you have a big appetite for desserts!

   Overall, Thirty8 is definitely the place to go if you wish for indulgence, great environment, excellent service and an exclusive afternoon with wonderful petite desserts. I truly enjoy myself here! We took lots of photos and a big thank you for the helpful staffs that helped us with so many embarrassing moments of photo-taking. Well, can't really blame us girls right? If you don't be vain and self-absorbed now, when else? ;) So here you go, my afternoon of living my fantasy as New York's classy socialite, Gossip-Girl-wannabe.
