A Coffee Story: The Coffeeholic & LewisGene

21:52

It has been raining since morning until now, such a chilly weather. What i want to do is just to snuggle inside my warm and cozy bed, doing nothing. How i wish i could have a cup of hot coffee in my hands now. Anyway, today's post is all about coffee. Those who knows me would sure notice that i'm such a coffee monster. I'm not addicted, but i enjoy its flavor and pleasure it has to offer. That's why i'm constantly looking for cafe that brings good quality coffee to the public. Today i'm gonna introduce you to 2 new found cafe, one in Seremban and another in Solaris, Mont Kiara.

1. The Coffeeholic, Uptown Avenue, Seremban 2

Well, i accidentally found out this newly opened cafe while having lunch at Uptown Avenue, it is situated on the same row as Gong Cha. It is pretty easy to locate but it takes time for first timer to find Uptown Avenue. So, be sure you bring a GPS around!

Cozy ambiance

I ordered a teatime set which consists of a hot coffee of your choice and a mile crepe cake of any flavor available. As usual, i had a cup of  cappuccino and a slice of Vanilla Mile Crepe.

Tadaa! Coffeeholic's cappuccino

Hot coffee+mile crepe cake=RM 15

The cappuccino was well equipped with everything i look for in a cup of good coffee. The coffee art was acceptable, smell was pleasant, taste was mild and texture was smooth. However, i'll be more pleased if there was more coffee kick within. The vanilla mile crepe on the other hand was a big portion. It was sweetened moderately and the pastry cream within was smooth and silky. I absolutely love the combination of sweet and bitter in this tea set. It costs only RM 15 nett, available every weekday from 3pm-6pm.

In the end of the day, the friendly boss even gave us 2 pieces of Ginger-man cookie to try and comment. It was a trial run for their Christmas product. According to the boss, they just started the business here 2 months ago and was doing pretty well despite being so secluded in Uptown Avenue. Well, to my friends out there, especially those living in Seremban now, do give Coffeeholic a try while rushing for our endless submission and tests.

2. LewisGene, Solaris Mont Kiara

The first thing i noticed when i first walked into LewisGene, is a space filled with various funky-looking gadgets and coffee machine. It is like a small coffee machine museum. I am almost affirmative that the boss is actually a coffee scientist, locked up in his room, inventing new machine every day. LOL. Jokes aside, i brought Agnes here when she visited me in KL. Since we were having lunch at Gangnam88 (check out link here) , we decided to go for after-meal-desserts as LewisGene, which is just opposite of the restaurant.

The menu on the board!

more coffee-related stuff, cool isn't it?
Agnes ordered their popular Butterscotch Latte while i ordered the same usual cappuccino again. Hmm, perhaps i should give other coffee a chance too right? I'm such a boring person. :/ We also had a piece of Carrot Cheese Cake for sharing, since it is something we never tried before.

Butterscotch Latte--RM 12.90

Cappuccino--RM 9.90

Carrot Cheese Cake
Well, overall their coffee was good, but i wasn't greatly impressed by my cup of cappuccino. It is simply because i think the coffee has a slight puckering after taste. Besides that, the coffee art was ordinary, the usual 'love shape', it feels like not much effort was given to present a creative piece of latte art. Our carrot cheese cake was indeed a huge disappointment as the texture was insanely dry and the combination of cheese and carrot did not wow us at all. Luckily, Agnes' Butterscotch Latte saved the day! I like the smoothness and flavorsome Butterscotch within this drink. Normally you will find butterscotch in pancakes and pastries but coffee is a first for me. I think it's a brilliant idea of incorporating such rich and sweet ingredient to strong and bitter coffee. The plus point is, the amount of butterscotch was just nice, not too overwhelming.

Say hello to Agnes here!
LewisGene is truly a special and edgy cafe in the heart of Mont Kiara. Despite all the fierce competition around, the cafe was packed with people on a Monday afternoon. I appreciate the settings and ambiance, very unique and one-of-a-kind. The service provided was satisfactory and it'll costs around RM 20 per person for an afternoon catch-up. I would definitely return to try out their signature Mocha and perhaps Tiramisu. (it was not available that day)
