Cafe Hopping: Kaffa Espresso Bar, Penang

18:19

   Hey my dearies! A million apologies goes to you because of my belated post. Yours truly have been insanely busy as the new semester started. I know, busy is no excuse, so please accept my sincere sorry. *puppy eyes Anyway, today i'm gonna talk about my trip back to hometown Penang last month with my dear cousie, Ms Caryn. We decided to head on to Penang to celebrate her victorious acceptance into SIA as a trainee flight attendant! I'm so proud of her. She has always been my little sister that i never had. We spent so much time together, growing up, learning and supporting each other. Knowing that she is certain and clear of her future just made me so proud of her. Congrats, all the best and take care alright?

YAY! Cousie unite!

   We picked Kaffa Espresso Bar as i've heard some pretty good review about their coffee there. Hence, coffee monster was determined to try it out herself. Kaffa Espresso Bar is located on Jalan Greenhall, just opposite of Segi College. For those that is not familiar with Penang island, Jalan Greenhall is a small alley right next to Light Street Convent School. Its vibrant entrance made it stood out among rows of cafe there. Thumbs up for that.

Good coffee here?

Every single day of my life
   We were welcomed by a full house of crowd since it was a Saturday afternoon. We quickly made our order and found a seat soon after. The coffee of the day were Cafe Freddo & Salted Caramel Macchiato; while the food of the day were Creamy Tomato and Chicken Spaghetti & Grilled Chicken, Swiss Cheese & Avocado Triple-Decker Sandwich.

Cafe Freddo--RM 12++
Ms Caryn's Cafe Freddo is basically an ice-blended coffee with milk, a very refreshing drink, suitable for the summer days like these. Coffee is very light, just nice for non-coffee drinker.

Salted Caramel Macchiato--RM 12.90++

   My choice of the day is certainly the famous Salted Caramel Macchiato. I chose this drink mainly because it sounded so special and it tasted unique as well. It was smooth and fragrant, with a mild sense of warm salted caramel, but the coffee essence was still strong. It was a beautiful fusion between bitterness, salty and sweet.

Creamy Tomato & Chicken Spaghetti--RM 20.90++
   Ms Caryn's food item of the day. It was a disappointment because it was bland, flat and not memorable. The only thing i appreciated was its chewy pasta.

Grilled Chicken, Swiss Cheese & Avocado Sandwich--RM 17.90++

   This sloppy sandwich was my dish of the day. To be honest, the presentation was unappealing with lettuce jutting out everywhere. The bread was soggy and soft, the salad was uninteresting and bland. However, the flavoursome chicken did saved the dish by a little.

Enjoyment.
Momentary peace found.

   In conclusion, Kaffa Espresso Bar is not a bad choice for afternoon coffee and meals. Their coffee was great but might need to improve more on their food kitchen department. I love the creativity of the menu here, but more improvement on execution will be marvelous in making this place a comfortable, memorable and food-tastic place. The setting of this cafe is relaxing, artistic and classical in a way. Their service was alright. Pricing is above average, approximately RM 30+ per person. It is indeed a must-go cafe when you are in Penang! Have a great weekend and i'll talk to you guys soon! xoxo
