Ladies' Day Out @ DCOVA, Lebuh Bishop

14:18

Greetings from Penang!! Some of you might know, yours truly has finally come home to Penang. I thought since i am here again, let's bring back some cafe reviews in the island for all the Penangnite readers right? So, today's post is about my quick afternoon catch up with dearest cousin Ms. Caryn. This busy sissy is always away, so hard to get a time for both of us to gather. We decided to travel to DCOVA at Lebuh Bishop for an afternoon ladies' talk.

DCOVA is a rather new cafe located at Lebuh Bishop, near to the coast and Penang Jetty. It is the successor after Lighthouse Cafe on the same spot. As usual, parking is almost impossible here, unless you park illegally (NOT RECOMMENDED!). Be prepared to walk a distance to DCOVA. We were at a sugar rush state when we reached here, so we ordered a total of 3 dessert items: Salted Caramel Chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla ice-cream, Creme Brulee and Matcha Mousse Cake. For drinks, we had a cup of Caramel Sea Salt Macchiato and a glass of Cafe Freddo.

Salted Caramel Chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla ice-cream--RM 13.90
Normally, this kind of dessert registered as chocolate brownie but they presented their lava cake in a ramekin. Its consistency did fulfill what its name suggested: firm on the outside and soft and gluey inside. However, salted caramel flavor did not pop as much as i would like it to be. It was a good effort though.

Creme Brulee--RM 13.90
This classical French dessert totally met the standard. A caramalised sugar layer that cracked with the touch of a spoon as well as the rich and creamy vanilla custard underneath the golden layer were very satisfying to enjoy. My only complaint was the sweetness level was too much for me.

Matcha Mousse Cake--RM 11.90
Last but not least, this item which i had most expectancy turned out to be a huge disappointment. The sponge layers were too dry and matcha essence was not strong enough to be a memorable item. This is definitely not worth a try.

Caramel Sea Salt Macchiato--RM 9.50

They changed the name of this coffee a little bit here and there, but this is still a salted caramel macchiato. Well, it was a decent one, but not the best that i had. The salt did not completely incorporated into the drink but collected as sendiments. Hence, it became entirely salty towards the end of the drink. I would still prefer the one i had in Kaffa Espresso Bar.

Cafe Freddo--RM 11.50
Freddo means cold in Italian. It is usually done by blending milk coffee with ice cubes to form a smooth and chilly beverage. This item did served as a refreshing drink in a hot summer day but i would prefer a stronger caffeine kick within.

le blogger with le sweet treats!

Thanks sis for the treat! :)
And of course, lots of wefie, because we are young and free! :D
Overall, i truly enjoyed the excellent service and relaxing environment here in DCOVA. The interior setting was just optimum for small talks and unwinding your dreadful soul. There were some hits and misses with the desserts and drinks but i am hopeful for the better improvement next time around. Some rumors said that the pasta was superb from the DCOVA's kitchen. I guess you should give it a try next time! Have a beautiful week ahead! xoxo.
