Ishiharu Izakaya Japanese Restaurant, Batu Pahat

23:52

I was dreadful to move to this small town called Batu Pahat. I guess i was a pretty spoilt kid back in the city, with so many types of cuisines and ever ready food supply. When i first came here, it felt like i just time traveled 20 years back to Penang mainland. Then, i started to hunt for local food as well as other cuisines together with Mr. J. That's how we survive the small town life and stressful final year. Today, i'm going to share with you guys a little bit about this well known Japanese restaurant in Batu Pahat--Ishiharu Izakaya. The friends and i celebrated Michelle's birthday here few weeks ago. There was about one third of the batch present that day and we literally shoveled down tonnes of product then. Here' s a brief overview on what we had in Ishiharu Izakaya.

Ishiharu is a rare find, in a small town like Batu Pahat. Located just beside the 'Glutton Street' near Jalan Abu Bakar, this Japanese Restaurant is not hard to find. Just like the typical Nippon places, they offer an array of Japanese wonders. Ranges from sashimi, sushi, ramen, bento, rice, sides and sakae. Everybody has something to enjoy over here. I've tried their pork broth ramen, salmon sashimi, unagi rice as well as fresh sashimi. Although its ramen still fell short comparing to the famous Tonkatsu ramen i had in Singapore, but the light and flavourful broth still managed to warrant a second visit. I would prefer some increase in the size of this dish. Sashimi dishes were all fresh and fulled of fishy fatness. I also like the addition of bonito in their unagi rice, successfully increased the sweetness in this dish.

Overall, i was satisfied with their food but was very disappointed with their service. Perhaps we came in a big group, but i don't accept this as a reason for slow and ineffective service. Most of their staff are not fluent with any Malaysian language and are dependent on one staff to take orders. Some of the diners did not ven receive their full orders. Hopefully the management will pull this problem together and Ishiharu Izakaya will definitely be a must-visit spot for tourists vising Batu Pahat. Till then, xoxo.
