Hua Hin's Best Mango Sticky Rice
20:11 Sawadekaa my dear readers! My Thailand trip continues in this blog post where i will talk more about our second destination--Hua Hin. After much disappointment with Mango Tango's interpretation of mango sticky rice, i was super determined to discover the BEST mango sticky rice in Hua Hin. After all, yours truly is a true foodie and sweet tooth in heart. I better start taking care of myself before diabetes hits me.
Comparing to Bangkok, Hua Hin is much smaller and quieter. It used to be the summer destination for the royalties in the olden days. Currently, Hua Hin is a newly developed tourist attraction, with plenty to offer, from nature right up to man made parks. Therefore, it wasn't easy for us to find out what's the best mango sticky rice around. After our extensive search and asking around the locals, we finally found the answer to our quest--Pa Jue Mango Sticky Rice.
Judging from this humble stall, i believe not many tourist will notice its existence. Located just right opposite of The Hilton Hotel, Hua Hin, Pa Jue is relatively easy to locate. Welcoming us was the bright yellow Lily mangoes, along with friendly smiles from these beautiful locals. They were so friendly and warm, reminded me of aunties and uncles back in Penang. We quickly ordered 5 plates of the legendary mango sticky rice and gosh, it was definitely the highlight of the day.
This simple dish consists of half Lily mango, which was so sweet and juicy, alongside with fragrant glutinous rice, topped with sweetened milk and some crunchy bites. We were totally in love with this signature Thai dessert. The mangoes were fresh, sweet and the overall sweetness was still acceptable. However, the rice seemed to be slightly undercooked. The entire dish costs 100 baht, just enough for sharing between 2 to 3 person.
Throughout our 20 minutes stay here, enjoying a taste of heaven by the roadside, i noticed there were almost 15 customers, both locals and tourists stopped by Pa Jue to take away these lovelies. You can imagine the popularity right? If you are visiting Hua Hin, make sure you give Pa Jue Mango Sticky Rice a try. I assure you, this could be one of the best ones you will ever taste! Stay tuned for more updates!
