BIBI's Fashion and Bakery Cafe | Budan's Brew Coffee Bar
17:33 Good day mates! Today i'm going to write about 2 cafes in Penang. I know i always say i don't expect much from cafes in Penang, probably because i was so spoilt with great cafes here in Selangor area. Hence, i have certain standard and expectation each time i try out a cafe. However, these 2 cafes i tried were pretty decent and i think it's worth a share with you guys! So enjoy!
1. Bibi's Fashion and Bakery Cafe
Situated in the centre of Penang island, Bibi's Fashion and Bakery Cafe is not to be missed if you are around the Gurney Drive area and longing for a relaxing afternoon for reading or a cuppa. You can easily find it, just right opposite of the Gurney Paragon. I went there with Cousie Caryn when i was back in the island during my elective. I have to say, i was amazed my the simple and old American set up of this bungalow. From the inside out, Bibi's is thoroughly covered with American influence. The rustic wooden furniture and homey decors worked greatly together, giving us a comfortable environment to dine in.
Meet Cousie Caryn! |
Egg's Benedict with English Muffin--RM 12.90 |
French Baguette with Smoked Salmon--RM 15.90 |
Scones with Cream and Strawberry Jam |
Red Velvet Cake--RM 10 |
Flat White--RM 8 |
Iced Green Tea Latte |
The best part of Bibi's has to be that homemade, fresh and healthy bread and pastries. Customers often buy some of the goodies back for breakfast or snacks. I highly recommend the yeast lovers to try out this cafe! The lighting and ambiance is also optimum for our OOTD shots girls! LOL

2. Budan's Brew Coffee Bar
Budan's Brew Coffee Bar is a rather hidden cafe, growing secretively behind the busy Love Lane, along Lorong Angus. A GPS is needed to find this cafe but i assure you, it will be all worth it once you tried out their coffee! I went there with Ms Zheng for a quick brunch before our adventure around the island. This little hut is none other than the typical heritage cafe in Penang that utilize the 70's old buildings or shop lots, give it some good touch up, transforming into a cozy and comfortable cafe for customers to enjoy over some coffee.
Although Budan's Brew is not exactly an Insta-worthy cafe with over-the-top decor, but its simplicity and practicality can be found over the entire space. This is the contributing factor to a comfortable and homey environment that anyone would appreciate. The choices of food were Beans Brekkie for me and Budan's Quiche Cup for Ms. Zheng. Caffeine choices of the day were a cup of cappuccino and latte.
Beans Brekkie--RM 12 |
Budan's Quiche Cup--RM 12.90 |
Cappuccino--RM 10 |
Addition of cinnamon powder elevated the coffee aroma. Thanks to Mr. Owner's suggestion. |
