Levain Boulangerie & Patisserie, an elegant French name for a beautiful bakery cafe. Levain basically means yeast or dough and boulangerie is bakery; patisserie is obviously pastry. It is a famous local bakery cafe, located at the busy KL center, just beside Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, near Prince Court Medical Center. Levain specializes in their stone-oven baking and emphasizes strongly on their natural and high quality ingredients. Hence, today i'm gonna bring you into this sweet and lovely hut filled with the greatness of yeast and sugar.
Today, me and my gallivanting buddies paid a random visit to Levain after shopping at Kamal's Bookstore. This is my second time here and i'm still in love with the aroma of freshly baked bread when i first walked into the hut. Levain offers a wide range of food. From pastries to desserts, from pizza to pasta, from coffee to juices, anything you want. We quickly placed our order and started eyeing on those delicious and pretty pastries and cakes.
I had Levain's new menu: Beef Terriyaki Baguette with potato wedges. It was surprisingly good. The bread was toasted to perfection, beef was well marrinated and not too chewy with some crunchy greens and crispy wedges. We also ordered some macaroons, a chocolate truffle and creme brulee to give a good finishing to our satisfying meal. My green tea macaroon was a disappointment as the sandwich was not chewy at all with an overly sweet interior. However, the creme brulee was acceptable and the chocolate truffle is rich and not too overwhelming which i like.
Aside from the great pastries and food, i love the ambiance of Levain as well. It has an old English cottage feel, with indoor, outdoor and upstairs compartments as your dining area. The service is brilliant, food portion is small, pricing is a little bit over the high edge, not very worth the money i would say. Anyhow, it's the environment that people are paying right? Complimentary water will be provided. Just a tip on how to make an order here in Levain:
