    Before i begin, as you can tell from the photos, the presentation was ON POINT! Each dishes were presented so elegantly and detailed, giving diners a good impression and high expectation on the flavours. We absolutely loved all the items by Nara.

   The Nara's Donburi was perfectly done, with smart combinations of Japanese flavours, creating a sweet and savoury rice bowl that will make you come back for more. Brilliant Breakfast Pudding was healthy, sweet and beautifully decorated. I would prefer the addition of citrus fruits such as berries so that the acidity may balance up the sweetness of this dish. Lastly, our Fancy French Toast was beautifully done. Brioche was soft and fragrant, peaches were poached to perfection in consistency and taste. The unique flavour of Earl Grey Lavender added a few more cookie points to this common cafe dish. However, the coffee drinks here did not manage to impress, mostly due to the mildly roasted beans and lacking in flavours.

   After my 2 visits to Nara's, i can truly say that this is the place to be if you are looking for some new vibes and healthy food in your next cafe hopping journey. Despite being a tad pricier than the standard cafes, Nara is not to be missed, as it promises good food with relaxing ambiance.    I have a confession to make. I believe many of you share the same problem as me. I ADORE snacks. Yes, i can eat snacks all day every day, even though i know they are bad for health and maintaining the perfect body shape. No rice? No meat? All is cool as long as i get to eat my favourite ice-cream, soft serve, cakes, desserts and perhaps chips. As a medical professional, i have to force myself to live a healthy lifestyle so that i can be a good example to my patients. Hence, i'll eat clean for 6 days and have a cheat day (maybe more) to myself where i can eat all the snacks i want. Today, i want to share with you some of my all-time-favourite-snacks--pies and soft-serve.

 A Pie Thing

   I was never a fan of pie until recently when i tried out A Pie Thing. I used to think pies are heavy, fattening, too buttery and boring, until i went to the popular pie place in PJ--A Pie Thing. I used my WorthyBook coupon to get 30% off my total bill as well as getting a free Matcha Latte. Such a fantastic deal right? I visited the main branch in PJ Uptown. They have another branch in Bandar Sunway, with different business hours but carrying similar products.

   As its name suggests, A Pie Thing specialises in making delicious pies, both sweet and savoury. Their main specialty is their Mashacre, which is basically any savoury pie, topped with mashed potato, mashed green peas and drizzled with homemade gravy. I was so tempted to get that one but too bad, mommy and i definitely couldn't stomach the entire thing. Hence, we got ourselves one sweet pie--Dark Smores Pie; a savoury pie--Chunky Steak and got ourselves a cup of complimentary green tea latte.

Dark Smores Pie--RM 10.50 Crunchy pie base, rich and decadent chocolate ganache, topped with toasted mini marshmallows.

Chunky Steak--RM 12.90 Pieces of beef with carrots in a tomato base, wrapped within a layer of buttery and flaky pie crust.

    My usual impression about pie was excessive butter, boring and lack of creativity. However, this place took me by surprise and showcased a variety of different flavours and interpretation of pie making. I was totally impressed with the concept, especially the huge Mashacre. My personal favourite has to be the Dark Smores Pie, mainly because of the complexity of flavours and texture i got from this little fella. The crust was crispy but not too buttery, chocolate was rich, smooth, silky but not too sweet, the mini marshmallows were toasted to perfection with a slight crisp on top but maintains the soft and chewy texture inside. Chunky Steak was also a great pie with chunks of beef, cooked and flavoured just right. Green tea latte was not too bad as well, but nothing beats my dearest Nana's.

    Since my first visit here, i kept going back for more of its wonderful pies. If you are looking for a light bite over some conversation with loved ones, this casual cafe is the perfect choice for you. P.S. Tokyo

    If there is a single dessert trend that won't go off, it has got to be the legendary green tea. Matcha craze doesn't seems to go off even though it has already been so commercialized in many cafes. Perhaps it is matcha's unique bittersweet flavour that keeps people coming back for more. P.S. Tokyo is a popular hit in SS2 PJ, famous for its green tea soft serve. I tried out their matcha and hojicha flavours, one in full size, another in mini cup.

For Instagram lovers out  there~

   I have to say, for the price we are paying, the serving is so huge! It is almost double the size of a standard soft serve. I prefer the hojicha (roasted tea) simply because the unique balanced between bitter and sweet. Matcha one was a little bit too sweet for me, as i prefer my matcha soft serve to be more bitter than sweet. Nevertheless, i do like the creaminess and richness of this cooling dessert. P.S. Tokyo also offers free photo printing for Instagrammers out there. Firstly, you have to make your Instagram profile public, so that it is visible, and hash tag #pstokyo, follow the simple instruction at the computer provided in the shop and you will get a photo instantly. I saw some of them clip on their photos on the wall provided, creating an interactive and interesting atmosphere.

   Besides these two flavours, P.S. Tokyo also has an interesting array of new soft serve flavours lining up. They have milk and Berry Calpico flavours.    Frisson's universal menu is a total fit for everyone's palate. My scrambled egg was well done, well seasoned, and i'm loving the crispy bruchetta. Bro's curry chicken croissant was interestingly delicious. Our coffee were all good, just a little tad too milky. The real charm here is the super affordable price and the friendly staffs. Our wallets and tummies were pleased.

   Give Frisson Coffee Bar a try, especially during lunch and tea time as they offer some super money worth-it deals. It is not difficult to locate, situated on the same row as all the popular hot spots in Damansara Uptown like Softsrve, The Good Batch, Fat Spoon and more.    I kind of like the combination of sweet and savoury in my breakfast waffle dish. Waffle itself was soft and sweet, i would prefer a little bit bigger portion in this dish. Brother's Scramble Eggs was soft and fluffy, again portion needs to be bigger for hungry siblings like us. Coffee was average, creamy and earthy, just enough to give us a morning kick.


   With so many brunch cafe around the city, i'm still looking for my muse, the one and only that can satisfy my selective palate and please my purse as well.    Hello food lovers out there! How did you spend your precious Saturday? Well, for me, as usual, food hunting is a must during weekends, in fact, everyday. LOL. Today, i am going to talk about one of my gallivanting Saturday in PJ and share with you some awesome-posome findings! Cheers!

First stop: Village Park Nasi Lemak, PJ Uptown

   Well, to begin with, i am not exactly a fan of nasi lemak. Not that it is not delicious, but it is the calories and fat content within that keeps me away from it. #girlsproblem #dietsucks Anyway, i decided to gave in and went to this famous nasi lemak restaurant in Damansara Utama just because rumors has it, claiming this to be the best nasi lemak in the whole Klang Valley.

   After i gotten my seat outdoor, which was quite hard as the crowd was crazy during a Saturday afternoon, i just ordered a single nasi lemak with chicken thigh, the best seller and also the simplest dish. You can add on some dishes like other curry, fish and vegetables, but you have to make your order by queuing inside, which also takes a long time, thanks to all the supportive nasi lemak lovers. Basically, nasi lemak is kind of a staple food for us Malaysian. It consists of a cupful of fragrant rice cooked with santan/coconut milk, sambal/chilli paste, fried chicken thigh, hard boiled egg, anchovies, peanuts, cucumber and more, depends on the creativity of the maker. This is what Village Park's famous nasi lemak looks like.

   Judging from the appearance, it already screamed 'EAT ME'! Thank God, all my effort of looking for carpark and waiting did not go to waste because it was really delicious! The rice was full of santan essence, chicken thigh was well seasoned, well cooked and juicy. Sambal was absolutely spicy but good, the rest of the items combined real well together. I was not a fan for nasi lemak, but i don't mind exercising 2 hours in the gym just to get this. Truly satisfying!

   Price wise, RM 9 for a plate of nasi lemak is indeed pricey. Parking is always a big problem around PJ Uptown. I would come back to this when i crave for good old Malaysian supper. It is definitely a must for Malaysian to try this, the King of all nasi lemak!

Second stop: Standing Theory, SS2

   As i always say, a meal is never complete without dessert. Plus, it was almost tea time when we finished our satisfying lunch in Village Park, perfect timing to hide in a cozy cafe, sip some coffee and avoid the horrible heat out there. 




    So, we found out that their specialty waffle is a must have here in Standing Theory and we ordered a Waffle+Ice Cream, with a cup of Piccolo Latte and Flat White.

Excellent quality coffee, might be one of the best milk coffee around this area.

Don't ya wanna dig in?

   I'm sure some of you must be like 'What? Bacon with ice-cream?!'. Yup, that's right guys! This is Standing Theory's specialty waffle, combining both sweet and savory, on top of a piece of extremely crispy waffle. Basically, i find nothing wrong with all the components here. I love the coconut ice-cream, refreshing and creamy. I love the bacon, well who doesn't? I also love the thick gula melaka syrup. When everything was put together, hmmm, not too sure about that. Anyway, i do appreciate the idea behind this creation. Please lovely peeps, give it a try when you visit Standing Theory next time!

Again, crazy crowd!

   Standing Theory offered us a great afternoon experience with great coffee and interesting sweet and salty treats. Pricing was average and service was acceptable. They also offer hot food items as well, might come back next time for their coffee and mains.
