PowPow's 21st Birthday @ Ole Ole Bali

21:39

Hi my fellow readers!! I'm finally back in action after 2 weeks of intensive stressful medical student life. Exam is really near, and i still got lots to study, but let's not get to that shall we? Today's post is all about a mini lunch gathering to celebrate my friend: PowPow's birthday at Ole Ole Bali, Sunway Pyramid. I find the food here is pretty awesome and i would like to share it with the world!!

Ole ole bali is actually a chained high class restaurants in Klang Valley, serving mostly Balinese cuisine as well as some Western food. I've passed by here quite a few times when i visit Sunway Pyramid and was so excited to see the crowd dining in the romantic ambience, smelling the calming lemon-grass essence but never step into it cause it looks kind of expensive for me. However, this time around, after a strong recommendation by my foodie buddy--Ms Zheng, we finally settled to this place to celebrate our dear high school friend--Powpow!!!

The best of Bali~

We went there at 11.30am, the restaurant is still yet to be packed with diners. Zheng ordered 2 course for us to share as the portion is rather big. We had Nasi Campur, which means mixed rice, a combination of Balinese grilled lemongrass prawns, sambal squid, grilled fish, Sate Lilit served with Lawar Kacang (beans salad), Rempeyek (anchovy crackers), sambal terasi and sambal matah. The second set is Bali Trio, constructed by BBQ wings, sate lilit and Cumi-Cumi Goreng, served with sambal terasi, sambal matah and tartar sauce. Do not feel overwhelmed by all these sambal cause their level of spiciness is still tolerable.

Nasi campur--RM 35

Bali Trio--RM 45

meet Powpow and the huge servings!!!

Personally, i love both of the courses. The first one: Nasi campur has a very special coconut milk taste/santan in their rice, very fragrant indeed. The sides, fish and prawns were perfectly done and elevated by the special sauces--sambal. The second one: Bali Trio has some really crunch squids and love how it goes together with the tartar sauce. However, the big bomb in these 2 meals is the Sate Lilit!!! It is basically a barbecued marinated chicken minced meat wrapped over a stick of very exotic lemongrass. The meat was gorgeously seasoned and well cooked. I could eat 10 sticks of them!!

Barley Lime Juice: RM 6

Then, we ended our satisfying lunch with a glass of refreshing barley lime juice. I'm loving the ambience and the concept of Ole ole bali. The staffs are helpful and service is good. Price is on the higher side, approximately RM 50 per person. On a side note, they provide complimentary pandan water and Jusco card holders are entitled with a 10% discount off the total bill. Ole ole bali is so perfect for a romantic dinner date or even gathering with close friends. Ok, thanks for reading, before signing off, i should bombard my page with more photos. LOL. xoxo
Happy 21st birthday Purple!!!

We lub you!! :)
