   I am always someone who adore art and appreciate simple living. As much as i love food, my love for photography is what get me started on this blogging journey. I used to be a portrait-enthusiast, but thanks to my dear architect friend, Ms Zheng, i developed some twinkle in architecture, design and nature as well. On my last trip to JB with Mr. J, we came across this unique and artsy space recommended by our senior, Edward, who happens to be the owner of The Replacement Lodge & Kitchen which i'm going to write about soon. Edward said that the view from this cafe is spectacular, especially during the evening. Hence, we traveled towards Danga Bay area, overlooking the Terbrau coast, in search of this well hidden gem--Sea & Saw.



    It was no joke looking for this particular cafe called Sea & Saw. Located off Jalan Straits View at Danga Bay area, we had to make a few turns before we found it. I would advise my dear readers that wish to try out this cafe to look for a Korean restaurant along Jalan Straits View if you are travelling from the old JB center. After you see the Korean restaurant on your left, Sea & Saw will be less than 500m on your left, with a tiny arrow with its name on it. Nevertheless, it is gonna be worth the effort because this find is more than awesome!

Passionfruit Smoothie--RM 10.90+

     The passionfruit smoothie we had was just the thing we need in a scorching hot Malaysian evening. It was refreshing, icy cold and with just the right amount of sugary goodness. I can also taste the real passion fruit seeds in the smoothie. Green tea pie was another great dessert as well. Matcha flavour was very intense, rich and pie crust was buttery and flaky. However, it would be perfect if the sugar level was reduced about 30%.

   Even when the night falls, one can enjoy the sunset and sea breeze with the outside seats facing the coastal line. Overall, we were very impressed with Sea & Saw's concept, decor, architecture, design, food, drinks, service and their unique free spirit. For those who are planning to visit JB in the future, i highly recommend this wonderful cafe for a relaxing afternoon out. They also serve warm food and coffee!    Ishiharu is a rare find, in a small town like Batu Pahat. Located just beside the 'Glutton Street' near Jalan Abu Bakar, this Japanese Restaurant is not hard to find. Just like the typical Nippon places, they offer an array of Japanese wonders. Ranges from sashimi, sushi, ramen, bento, rice, sides and sakae. Everybody has something to enjoy over here. I've tried their pork broth ramen, salmon sashimi, unagi rice as well as fresh sashimi. Although its ramen still fell short comparing to the famous Tonkatsu ramen i had in Singapore, but the light and flavourful broth still managed to warrant a second visit. I would prefer some increase in the size of this dish. Sashimi dishes were all fresh and fulled of fishy fatness. I also like the addition of bonito in their unagi rice, successfully increased the sweetness in this dish.

   Overall, i was satisfied with their food but was very disappointed with their service. Perhaps we came in a big group, but i don't accept this as a reason for slow and ineffective service. Most of their staff are not fluent with any Malaysian language and are dependent on one staff to take orders. Some of the diners did not ven receive their full orders. Hopefully the management will pull this problem together and Ishiharu Izakaya will definitely be a must-visit spot for tourists vising Batu Pahat. Till then, xoxo.

   When it comes to hawker food, there will always be a rivalry in between Malaysia and Singapore. I have heard people from both countries fighting over who has the best char koay teow or cendol. Not taking any sides, i believe both places have their own specialties, in their own unique ways. Today, while i was going through some of my old photos, i realised that i accidentally forgot about this piece of write up about Singapore's famous Laksa and Prawn Noodle. Let's go back to few months ago when i paid the Lion City a visit.

    Many friends and readers love to ask me, since you are a food blogger and always go for cafe hopping, where would you recommend as the best place for brunch? You guys have no idea how difficult this question is to me! This is simply because there are way too many decent brunch cafe in Klang Valley, i couldn't single out one. However, when people talk about the most popular one, it has to be The Red Beanbag in Publika!

   The Red Beanbag can be considered as one of the pioneer brunch cafe in KL, started by a few food and coffee enthusiasts. Since few years ago, this place has been a hit and the fever for good breakfast and coffee never stop. Owner Jason Loo is also one of the most successful barista that made Malaysia proud with several barista championship winner under his belt. I've been here a couple of times and was never disappointed by their amazing service and good quality food. You can check out my previous visit to RBB here!

   Whenever we visit RBB, i'll make sure to get myself a cup of coffee and a breakfast item. For this visit, i ordered a cup of cappucino as usual as well as Skyscrapper. Laine had Portobello Pancakes while Jo had a simple Banana Bread. A meal is never complete without dessert. We had a slice of Salted Caramel Cheesecake with Peanut Butter for sharing. Their menu is actually quite simple, with The Light Side and The Dark Side. The dark means something heavier and in huge portion.

   When i first saw the coffee, i thought it was the cutest cup of coffee i've ever had. The friendly barista made me two bears, one big and one small, carefully crafted using milk foam and chocolate. Of course, we have to take it for multiple photo shots. Taste wise, it was smooth and creamy, earthy and fragrant, nothing too unusual. Cake was surprisingly good. Presentation and flavor hit the right spot, with the right amount of sugar and cream, the entire cake was moist and pleasant to the eyes.

   Overall, Weis Cafe did well judging from a small neighbourhood like Batu Pahat. I am utterly surprised by the quality of coffee and desserts we enjoyed from Weis. However, pricing is on the higher edge, closing up to KL standard. Environment was quiet and spacious, recommended for studies and gathering. To my friends or juniors who are coming to Batu Pahat, give this cafe a try and i'm sure you won't be disappointed! xoxo
