Brunch with Naj & Belle, SS15

21:08

Warmest greetings dear readers! I'm so sorry for being away for almost a month! There has been a lot of exciting stuff going on in my life, travelling and many more, causing me to be lacking in my blog's progress. However, i'm back now and today i'll be blogging about this beautiful cafe in Subang SS 15's latest mall--Courtyard. This cafe is none other than Naj & Belle, serving you more than just cakes, but an array of hearty brunch and mains.

Located at the center of SS15, Courtyard mall is not to be missed for its wonderful selection of food and beverages scene. Naj and Belle is one of the many interesting restaurants nestled here. It is incredibly easy to locate Courtyard, in between Subang Empire Mall and SS15 business hub; while Naj & Belle is sitting right opposite from Yesterday's.

By adapting an open garden concept, Naj & Belle's outer compound is so welcoming and relaxing for a late morning brunch affair. Rising from its fame is the owner come baker behind this cafe, that also happens to be a popular cake supplier for various local cafes in Klang Valley. Needless to say much, we sure expect a lot from its cakes and desserts. Therefore, we ordered a Tiger Prawn Spaghetti and Sally and Chives as mains, a cup of Flat White as caffeine boost and two slices of cake as desserts. They were Watermelon Lychee Cake and Rose Lychee Almond Crumble.

Let's begin with our mains. There were some hits and misses. The tiger prawn spaghetti was well cooked, very al dente, but was flavoured too heavily on salt and oil. This aglio olio lacked of spices, depth of flavour and i wasn't impressed with the rubbery prawns as well. On the other hand, our salmon scrambled egg topped with salmon roe was a fresh creation in the brunch scene. However, i didn't enjoy the fishy salmon and soggy toast. Thank goodness for the desserts which saved the day. My favourite was the watermelon lychee cake. The entire item was light and fresh, with the juiciness from the watermelon, light rose flavoured sponge cake and lychee cream filling. This masterpiece is to die for. Mr. J preferred the Rose Lychee Almond Crumb which tasted amazing as well.

Overall, i kinda appreciate the creativity behind the cake bar of Naj & Belle. They fully utilized their baking strength in creating various mouth watering cakes. However, i hope the same can be reflected from their mains as well, perhaps more fine tuning and improvement of execution is needed. That's all for today! xoxo
