沿海地带生活馆 By The Sea Boutique Cafe, Raja Uda

21:09

Happy Friday earthlings! Can't believe it is Friday already!! This week i have been occupied with errands and gatherings but i'm back in blogging! Today's post is all about this unique theme cafe that i visited last Sunday with high school friend--Qi. It's none other than 沿海地带生活馆 By The Sea Boutique Cafe.

By The Sea is not located at the beach alright? As many may have that impression. It is located off Jalan Ong Yi How, Raja Uda. For the locals, this cafe is just opposite the famous dim sum restaurant--超全 Chaw Choon. It started off last year as one of the best theme cafe in Butterworth. By The Sea as its name, embraces the concept of beach, seaside and relaxing mood, the entire shop was furnished and decorated to look like a beach cafe. The floor was covered with fine sands and painted with light blue, the ceiling was covered with fishing nets and you can immediately feel the refreshing ambiance once you enter.

Ohh, before that i have to introduce Qi to the world. We have been friends since high school and she is such a bubbly, friendly and smart buddy of mine. She is currently an aspiring doctor like me and studies in Poland. So this time, when Qi comes back for her summer holiday, as a good friend, i ought to bring her gallivanting around plus catching up. It was late afternoon and almost dinner time, so we ordered something light to share--Butterscotch Almond Mile Crepe and Chocolate Banana Toast. For drinks, i had a glass of Lemongrass Lychee Ice Blended while Qi's choice was Oreo Chocolate Ice Blended. (it was a hot day)

Generally speaking, the desserts and drinks we had were mediocre. Firstly, the mile crepe was a little too sweet to my liking. However, the almond inside did help a little bit in giving a different texture to the creamy cake. Secondly, the lemongrass lychee drink was a let down. I've heard so much good review from Anerly Fang's blog along with other people's opinion, but i thought the lemongrass essence was too powering, over-shadowed the natural sweetness of lychee. Thirdly, the chocolate banana toast also did not surpass my expectation. The toast wasn't crispy enough hence making the rich chocolate and banana a bit hard to take in. Finally, Qi's oreo chocolate ice blended drink was too blend for that price. She was expecting to get a thick and chocolatey drink but was greatly disappointed. :/

All the above is just merely my humble opinion, peace out~
Well, perhaps both of us were expecting too much from it. After all, we are talking about Raja Uda, a developing housing area. To have such a concept cafe around the neighbourhood is a big achievement and requires lots of courage and hard work to sustain the business. For that, i give my salute and encouragement! Anyway, there is this little corner in  By The Sea Cafe that is worth looking forward to. The owner made an effort in displaying cute little girly stuff like accessories, notebook, decorative pieces to woo young girls. Some were hand made, but all was very attractive and princessy.

Overall, By The Sea is still a very suitable place for you to hang out with friends, have a cup of tea and imagine that you are strolling on a beautiful beach. The service was great and environment is excellent. However, i do hope that the owner will expand the shop cause for now, the cafe is too small to fit more than 20 people at a time. Pricing is about RM 15 per person, considered average for Butterworth standard. Before i sign off, here are some photos of both of us. Have a great weekend ahead ~ xoxo
