Colorful Summer with PikNik Cafe

14:19

Let's go PikNik!! To be honest, i don't see any resemblance of the word 'picnic' with this cafe "PikNik". Anyway, one thing that PikNik did accomplished is that the color of the interior matches the vibrant food it served.

my point of view~
Last few weeks, when i was back in Penang, me and my cousie--Caryn went to the island after my facial. self-pampering :)* We decided to come here cause PikNik is one of the heritage cafe that i always missed out! PikNik is situated along Jalan Nagore. If you know where is La Mei Zi Steamboat and Love Bites Fusion Cuisine, PikNik is just right beside them. I've been to Love Bites to try out their specialty love toast (check out link here) but never noticed PikNik that is right beside it. Perhaps it was closed that day. I was glad that i visited it this time around.

Well, i talk about the food first. The mains for the day is Pumpkin Cream Spaghetti and The Big Fish and drinks wise, we chose a Passion Fruits Yogurt Smoothie and Winter Melon Lemon Tea to quench the thirst. A meal is never complete without a dessert. Hence, we also ordered a slice of blueberry cheese cake to share.

Pumpkin Cream Spaghetti
The Big Fish--RM 14
Crispy waffle with fish fillet, vege and cheese
My Passion Fruit Yogurt Smoothie--RM 9
Caryn's Winter Melon Lemon Tea--RM 5.50
Blueberry Cheese Cake
As you can see from the photos above, all our orders that day was pretty colorful huh? My favourite dish has to be the Pumpkin Cream Spaghetti. It tastes like a very rich and thick pumpkin soup, condensed and reduced, throw in some fine pasta and herbs and there you go, a dish to wow your palate. Caryn's Fish Waffle was kind of special. I have never seen people serve fish fillet in between 2 crispy waffles before. Taste wise was quite ordinary, nothing special. Our drinks were both ok, both very refreshing, perfect for a hot afternoon in summer. Lastly, the blueberry cheese cake came in surprise as it was pretty well done! The rich cheese flavor was contrasted with sour blueberries and salty-sweet cookie base. For a home-made cake, that was pretty brilliant. However, i would prefer the blueberries to be a little more sour?

Both of us had a pleasant dining experience here. The whole colorful and hipster theme here really works for me. PikNik is a cafe perfect for your summer meet up, a casual date or even a family outing. Pricing wise, is affordable, (around RM20 per person) and not over-priced like other heritage cafe elsewhere. Service was wonderful as the young and energetic staffs here tried their best to welcome you.  I hope this post would give you a clue on where to go on your next gathering. Good day! xoxo.
