Sweet Tooth Diary: Marmalade, Bangsar Village II | Tryst, Subang SS15

22:49

Oh hello dear my lovely readers! How was your week people? I am always a firm believer in treating yourself for a good meal or anything you fancy, just to reward yourself after a long week of work. After all, life is short. Why not treat yourself a little bit better, enjoy the finer things in life before everything just fades away when we age? Therefore, no matter how tired i am with work and studies, i will always find time to pamper myself with the simplest form of enjoyment--DESSERTS!

Today i am going to share with you guys, some of the desserts i had, some are good, some are average. Just sit back and relax, as i indulge myself in writing all about sugary goodness alright?

1. Marmalade, Bangsar Village

I went to this brightly colored cafe few weeks ago with my high school friend. Since she was in the vicinity of Bangsar, might as well try out this cafe who earns its fame through their wonderfully crafted cakes and desserts. Marmalade is situated on the first floor of Bangsar Village II Mall. It offers a wide range of Western food, from brunch to desserts and everything in between. Since it was a rainy afternoon, i got myself a cup of warm tea while my friend got herself a cup of warm Mocha with a slice of Oreo Cheese Cake for sharing.

Our favourite: Oreo Cheese Cake was amazingly wonderful. I enjoyed the richness and moisture from the cream cheese. Along with the crumbly cookie base and soft oreo cookie dough, they just elevated the cake to a whole new level of goodness. I also have to compliment their generous chocolate shavings and chocolate sauce on top! My earl grey tea was ok, the mocha was below average. I can only considered it as a regular hot chocolate as the coffee was really bland.

Overall, Marmalade serves great cake, average drinks and certainly a comfortable and relaxing environment for a lazy afternoon day out. Pricing was average. Service was pleasant. I will be back to try on their brunch menu next time around!

2. Tryst, Subang SS15

So, switching the scene a little bit, from a sweet, colorful and bright cafe, to a little more dark, cool and hipster hang out place. I am referring to the Tryst, situated along one of the quiet small alley behind all the food places in SS15's center. Although the location might not be exactly strategic, but i believe their food and coffee are two elements that draw people towards them, hence the crowd on a Sunday afternoon.

This time around, i went with my travel buddies, to this unusual and interesting cafe after our lunch in SS15 as well. We got ourselves a slice of cake each and Mr. Kim gotten himself a cup of ice blended mocha to quench the thirst under the 39 degree Celsius blue summer sky. The cakes are: Chocolate Mud Cake with additional Vanilla Ice-Cream, Apple Crumble and Chocolate Pie.

Chocolate Mud Cake--RM 5+3 (additional vanilla ice-cream)
Apple Crumble--RM 6
Chocolate Pie--RM 6
Crushed Mocha--RM 13
pardon the messy chocolate mud cake, the blogger couldn't resist the temptation. :)
Basically, all the cakes were pretty decent. My favourite goes to the sinful yet delicious Chocolate Mud Cake. It was everything a chocolate cake supposed to be--warm, soft, dense and rich. The addition of a scoop of vanilla ice-cream also accentuated the taste. Next, the Chocolate Pie was densely prepared, not a bad choice if you are a true chocolate lover. The Apple Crumble was slightly dry and sour, a little bit more cinnamon and brown sugar would be awesome. Mr. Kim's crushed Mocha was not too bad, according to him. Consider this a trustworthy comment as my friend here is also a coffee monster like me.

What med school did to us! Early signs of aging :(
But first, let me take a selfie!
Miss you already travel bud!
I truly appreciate the effort of Tryst in transforming itself to a hipster chillax place where anyone can literally unwind with their own activities. They have magazines, books, shisha, food, desserts, coffee, games and cool graffiti for those who love photography. Pricing was quite affordable, compared to the cafes around SS15. Tryst is indeed a place that everybody would love.

That's the end of my sweet tooth diary. Please let me know if you want to know more about where to go hunt for amazingly delicious desserts. As a future health care provider, i still have to say this: too much sugar is no good to your body! Be sure you eat moderately and exercise to avoid getting diabetes. Nah, just joking, eat dessert first and we could all diet tomorrow right? Have a great week ahead! xoxo
