The Grumpy Cyclist, TTDI

Happy Fathers' Day to all the dads around the world! How did you celebrate this meaningful day with your dad? For me, we had a simple lunch and i baked a Black Forest Cake for daddy dearest! No matter how you show your love, i'm sure he feels it too! Anyways, let's talk about an interesting themed cafe that i visited few weeks ago in TTDI. Introducing The Grumpy Cyclist, TTDI!

As its name suggest, we would expect it to be run by some grumpy shopkeeper with a bike right? Well, half correct. The Grumpy Cyclist is all about friendly staffs with a substantial interest in bikes. Situated in the tranquil vicinity of Taman Tun Dr Ismail, same row as TableTalk, this cafe strikes to give their customers the best dining experience with simple food, fragrant coffee and relaxing environment, especially after a good bike ride around the area.

The entire cafe is based on their love on bikes, displaying different models and they even placed  a solid metal container within the cafe, which displays a bicycle mechanic workshop. It is very unique and interesting to be able to portray a theme so well. The Grumpy Cyclist also offers exhausted bikers a place to shower and wash away their sweat before having a scrumptious breakfast here.

After exploring the cafe like a fascinated little kid, i made my order at the counter, along with my food buddy. The menu is written on a board at the counter, with quite some interesting names. We both ordered a breakfast set, which comes with a cup of complimentary long black coffee or tea. Our choice of the day was The Grand Fondo & Crespella.

Trusty old long black coffee

The Grand Fondo aka The Big Breakfast--RM 18
Top, clockwise: Toasts with butter, 2 sunny side up, baked beans, baked cherry tomatoes, sausaged, beef bacon, pan-fried mushroom.

Crespella--RM 12
Chocolate chip pancake with whipped cream, strawberries, blue berries and drizzle of honey.
Simply beautiful. That's what i concluded after a spending a morning with The Grumpy Cyclist. The big breakfast set is very filling, perfect for someone with huge appetite. All the components on the plate was well prepared and the beautiful sunny side up would brighten up anyone's day just like that. For my chocolate chip pancake, it was not like the usual fluffy pancake you get elsewhere. It was more chewy, doughy and sticky because of the addition of chocolate chips. There was no maple syrup served as well, some might even say it is on the dry side. However, i could really enjoy the difference here as i love how well the consistency of the pancakes works with the lightly whipped cream and fruits. It would be better if more berries were given.

We were quite pleased with our brunch here with The Grumpy Cyclist. Pricing was average, around RM 15 per person. No tax included. After tasting so many look-alike cafe, The Grumpy Cyclist actually gave us something special to enjoy. Thumbs up for the incredible effort in transforming this cafe into something so unique and memorable. That's all for today's post, until next time, have a magnificent week ahead! xoxo.
