Late Night Craving~Ipoh's Lou Wong Bean Sprouts Chicken

23:46

Have you ever experience this situation where you suddenly crave for something in the middle of the night. That food item you crave for just haunt your mind for like a good 30 minutes before your conscious mind tell you how impossible it is to get that food in your tummy at this hour. Well, it happened tonight, when i craved for Ipoh's Signature Brean Sprout Chicken!
I hope you understand how i feel now, craving for something i couldn't have! :(
Anyway, today i'll be writing about this well known local delicacy that i always go with my family whenever we are in Ipoh. It is situated in the heart of Ipoh's old town, a town born out of mining, reborn with good old tradition and culture. The bean sprout chicken is one of the popular food in Ipoh. It is basically poached chicken, dipped inside a cold water to stop the cooking process, so that the chicken will retain its original flavor and succulent texture. It is often paired with a side dish, bean sprout, hence, the name Bean Spout Chicken. Many of them are running this business, but i still find Lou Wong's version is the best!

Well, these are the usual items we order. We will start with appetizer, Pork Ball Soup--Bean Sprout--Whole Chicken, together with rice or rice noodle soup.

Pork Ball Soup
Amazingly made, each bite exploded with flavor and epicness.

Bean Sprout
It is just a simple bean sprout poached quickly in hot water, seasoned with soy sauce, sesame oil, salt and pepper. I love the crunchiness of the fresh bean sprout. Its refreshing after taste works well with the chicken.

The Famous Ipoh Chicken!

Look at the perfectly cooked skin!
I hope i make you sallivate!
I honestly think that the photo speaks louder than words. I still cannot believe how can such a simple dish wow so many tourists and locals until i tried it out myself. My goodness, i am hooked ever since! The soft and succulent chicken meat, well seasoned with soy sauce, sugar, salt and pepper, accompanied by refreshing spring onion. Perhaps it is their technique in preparing the chicken using the hot and cold water method. Whatever it is, the food here was beyond awesome and i would LOVE to have one bit right now!

Parking is freely available around the shop, but be prepared to pay like 2 bucks as this is certainly a tourist attraction spot. You can also grab some local produce like biscuits, pamelo, salted chicken and more around this area as well. Pricing wise is approximately RM 18 per person if you ordered the items as shown above. That's all i have for you tonight and i got to off my laptop to prevent my hunger pangs from screaming inside! Have a fantastic week ahead! xoxo
