Gearing Food @ Garage 51

22:27

Hello world! So sorry again for the long hiatus. Today, yours truly is going to give you another write up about this much hyped up cafe in Subang area--Garage  51 since its opening last year. As some of you might know, Subang is really a busy area with dense housing area, students, office, malls. Therefore, finding a car park is going to be a big headache. Nevertheless, it is always worth it when it comes to food right? At least, to me.

This unique cafe is themed after the garage concept. As you can tell from the photos, the owner had turned this simple shop lot into a double storey space, filled with metallic, cold undertone and decorated with plenty of automobile gadgets. It is not easy to miss as Garage 51 is just behind Sunway College in Subang. Hence, it explains the student crowd all the time in this cafe. Mr. J and i had a Awesome Garage Breakfast and a slice of Marble Cheesecake to share. For the hot drinks, i had their signature Mochatella while he got himself a cup of hazelnut hot chocolate.

Awesome Garage Breakfast--RM 22+
bagel with baked macaroni, smoked chicken, garage hash brown, poached egg, hollandaise sauce.

Marble Cheesecake--RM 9.90+
Hazelnut Hot Chocolate--RM 12+
Mochatella--RM 14.90+
Coffee ice cubes with nutella bottom with warm milk
Melt the coffee cubes with the warm milk
Stir it and drink it!
First of all, i have to say i was utterly disappointed with the Awesome Garage Breakfast. The components in this item were definitely too many and too ambitious. None of the components executed well enough. The bagel was soft, hash brown was soggy, chicken was dry and tasteless, baked macaroni tasted nothing like one. The unforgiving part on this dish has got to be the failed poached egg. The egg was obviously overcooked and failed to deliver what was stated in the menu. It was not awesome at all and certainly did not live up its crown as one of the popular dish here. Cheesecake was dry as well and hazelnut chocolate was ordinary. Lastly, the mochatella was something interesting but it was overpriced till sky high!

Nevertheless, i do find their staff very friendly and furniture set up to be rather creative and modern. Perhaps i put too much hope on this cafe, judging from its original branch, Coffee Societe which serves good coffee. Pricing is more than average and i guess that would mark my first and last visit here.
