Dim Sum anyone?

old town IPOH~
Alright, so today i went to this awesome place~IPOH, a pit stop before heading back to my campus to meet up with my friends. It was an early early morning and i don't know why, i have this thing for MORNING. I feel incredibly charged, energy, cheerful and all hyped-up in the morning, and so was this morning. When we arrived at this place called Foh San Restaurant, OMG, adrenaline rushing as i haven't have a proper dim sum breakfast for who-knows-how-long ago. Ohh, for those who don't understand what dim sum is, it's actually a Cantonese dialect, which means light refreshment, bite size with lots of variety and flavor, served on a plate or small steamer basket, but in this modern era, it kind of evolved to become a style of Chinese cooking and it's well accepted internationally.

Foh San Restaurant
Erm where were we? Ohh right, ok this Foh San Restaurant is situated at the old and inner part of southern Ipoh town, which is a really really classic. Well Ipoh is well known for its interesting architecture among the hills and rock mountains and caves but not many heard about its dim sum huh? I basically grew up travelling up and down and Ipoh has been a must for us to stop by whenever we travel. Okok, back to the dimsum. Well the thing i like about Foh San is her generous portion, traditional flavor, unique interior design and the blend of western and oriental with a pinch of modern Hong Kong atmosphere in the restaurant.

So sorry readers as i could'nt take many photo of the food as i was very very hungry that time. Nevertheless i shall write them down eh? The restaurant has all the traditional and typical dim sum such as siew mai, har gao, (basically dumplings) and the infamous egg tarts. I especially adore the egg tarts and the dim sum as they were really fresh and you can taste each of the ingredients within and well-mixed. However, i don't fancy their chee cheong fan (rice noodle roll). :-/

The restaurant moved and renovated the building years ago, that's why you can see the building standing out from those old buildings surrounding it. The interesting part about Foh San is it has all of an olden China building, like small floor tiles, arranged in a nicely planned pattern, wooden windows, wooden tables and chairs, modified chinese summer house blended with a touch of south-western europe, like the lamp and decor. Total up, these gave us a lovely, sophisticated yet elegant feeling sitting there while having a sip of pu er (chinese tea). Awwww...mesmerizing~

Moreover, with noises made by joyful kids, chit-chatting customers, bumble-bee-ish general workers cleaning the table, alert waiter and waitresses promoting their trolley of food, sweating chefs inside the hot and steamy kitchen, tensed supervisor monitoring the whole restaurant and so much more. The whole picture was crafted onto my brain, so vivid and amazingly beautiful.

Many of the young people do not appreciate the beauty of Chinese culinary anymore. Many would prefer westerners' french fries over dim sum, the fine art of Chinese cooking. I'm not criticizing anyone or any culture cause i respect all the culture in the world, but what i'm trying to say is you never know if you never try. Just give it a shot, who knows, perhaps it may tackle your taste bud so powerfully and you may be surprised. Cheers~
