Penang Heritage

22:40

Hey dear readers, i'm back AGAIN!!! With whole lots of exciting food and travelling report to present~ So last Thursday i went to Penang Island together with Ah Zheng (Ms Wan Zheng), another high school buddy to search for good food and buying graduation gift on behalf of her sis in Australia. Well, it started off like that but then we went crazy and started a one-day Georgetown Heritage Tour. XD. It was really fun and amazing and it really opened up my eyes to the greatness of this little island and the stories behind it. :)

Cendolicious!!
Our first stop was the popular Penang Road Cendol Stall, which is not really on Penang Road but it's a small alley between two buidings, off Burma Road. LOL. I forgot what's the name of the coffee shop but do google up 'Penang Road Cendol', you will find more about it. Well, i haven't been to Georgetown for quite a period of time since college, we kind of got lost searching the cendol stall. However, thanks to dearest daddy, we finally reached there after a few rounds at the Komtar circle. sigh*. This cendol stall that i mentioned is an 'old timer' around here, selling cendol and ais kacang for decades and still so popular till now. For those who don't know what are these, they are actually the local delicacies of Malaysia. Cendol is a type of dessert consist of coconut milk, green/pandan-coloured worm-like jelly made up from rice flour that go together with shaved ice, red beans and brown sugar. Ais kacang on the other hand is also a traditional chilling dessert made of shaved ice coloured by bright syrup such as brown sugar, red rose syrup and sarsi syrup. On top of that also some topping of evaporated milk or condensed milk and coconut milk. Besides, there is also various kind of side toppings such as red beans, grass jelly, sweet corn, peanuts, cubes of agar-agar and more, depending on the stall owner's creativity.

Laksa
We ordered 2 cendols and laksa and char koay teow from the kopitiam (local Hokkien dialect for old coffee shop) next to it and settled down to enjoy our tea break. :) satisfied look*. By the way, laksa and char koay teow are both Penang famous noodle delicacies. Char koay teow is a kind of flat rice noodles/ho fun stir-fried over exteremely high heat with soy sauce prawns, chilli paste, deshelled cockles, bean sprouts, egg, chinese sausage/lap cheong served over a piece of banana leaf. Then Zheng introduced me to another local delicacies:O Jian/Oyster Omelete across the street. Anyway, the food was awesome!!! And i can't describe how proud am i as a born-raised Penangites!!! =D

Rasa Sayang Resort's night view
Ok, after that we picked up Victoria from Gurney Plaza and headed to Batu Feringgi to source the souvenir for Zheng's sister. While the actual destination was supposed to be Batu Feringgi Night Market, but before that we had a pit stop at Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Resort which is one of the best and most exclusive resort we have in Penang. It also welcomed a few movies and TV drama filming before. ;). We just hang out, chillaxing (chlling+relaxing), short walk and catching up. After that, we returned to the night market and found a petite pewter as present and mission accomplished!!!

After we finished, it was already 8 something so we just stop by to the nearest restaurant~Daorae Korean BBQ!!! We had lots of proteins, vege and mouth-watering side dishes. They are pretty balanced if you ask me to grade it. Awesome and authentic korean cuisine, excellent service and spacious area. I really enjoyed myself there!! A good recommendation for people who adores barbeque meat, huge amount of rounds of drinks and side dishes.
