Discover Gurney Paragon: Lunarich | Brown Pocket

19:02

Joy to the world!! Okay, i know Christmas is not here yet, but i'm already over the moon as i just finished my exam!! So let's welcome my long awaited one week holiday!! Today i'll be writing about my trip back to Penang 2 weeks ago, where me and my dear cousin, Caryn, went for a sweet date in the newly launched Gurney Paragon! As some of you Penangnites might now, Gurney Paragon is a newly developed sophisticated shopping and lifestyle mall just beside the Gurney Mall. It declares itself to be the new heart of Penang, promising endless fun, shopping, dining and entertainment experience to the Penang citizens. Since i was back in town that weekend, i brought my dearest cousie to this new mall just to have a feel of it!

1. Lunarich Pizza & Pasta

That day, the whole Penang was so jam, i spent like 2.5 hours just to reach Gurney Paragon. Therefore, we only managed to have late lunch at Lunarich. Lunarich is an Italian Restaurant, emphasizes on its belief in slow food culture, located on the second floor of the mall, right opposite of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. It is a bit tricky to find this place at first because the mall is a U-shape building, in order to get from right side to left side, you need to take a big round from the inside of the mall. Anyway, you will be able to find it eventually, just ask the direction from the friendly security guards around.

I've heard so much good review about their pasta and pizza, but we were not feeling very hungry to order both. Hence, we only ordered a Pumpkin Soup and a Bismark Pizza to share. Thank goodness we did not order another pasta, cause we were really stuffed and had to take away the remaining pizza.

Pumpkin Soup--RM 12.90

Bismark Pizza--RM 38
Tomato sauce base topped with mozzarella cheese, pepperoncino, chili flake, bacon, onion ring and egg

If you ask me to describe the pizza in one word, it would be: HEAVENLY! Seriously, the Bismark Pizza we had was so amazing in all aspect. It was special, cause it was the first pizza with egg i have ever tasted. The bacon and generous amount of mozzarella cheese incorporated extremely well together. The pizza base was thin and crunchy and i like the amount of chili powder within. It gave the entire item a slight kick. On the other hand, the pumpkin soup was smooth, earthy and creamy, but lack of some extra texture within. Some bread crumbs would be nice.

Le happy blogger!! *satisfied
Both of us were pretty satisfied with the food, service and environment in Lunarich. Each person costs around RM 45++, considered above average. This restaurant has high potential and it is definitely on my list of good Italian food in Penang.

2. Brown Pocket, Penang @ 6
After our late lunch, we went up to Level 6  to have desserts in Brown Pocket. It is a newly opened cafe, just right outside of Penang @ 6. You can also take a lift up to the 6th floor, the cafe is right opposite the lift, very accessible.

From the photos, you can tell that the cafe is brand new, with modern and relaxing ambiance. We ordered a Triple Chocolate Waffle and a glass of iced cappuccino.

The popular triple chocolate waffle--RM 18.90

2 pieces of waffle with vanilla, chocolate ice-cream, whipped cream, strawberries and 3 types of chocolate sauce

Pardon my vanity :)
We absolutely love this desserts! I appreciate the texture and the ration of flour and egg in the waffle. The ice-cream were topped with strawberries and oreo cookie crumble, gave some uniqueness into this dish. Besides, the 3 types of chocolate sauce: dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate gave the diners some fun to play with as you can pour them on your waffle, decorating it as you wish. Thumbs up for this dessert. However, i was not impress at all with my iced cappuccino. The coffee essence was too puckering, way too overwhelming for me.
From my point of view: skyline of Georgetown
Anyhow, i enjoyed my time here in Brown pocket. The staff was friendly and i just love the environment in this modern cafe. Average price per person is around RM 18+. I hope that this is just the beginning of cafe culture in Penang. Looking forward to more great food and coffee in Penang. Till then, xoxo.

Do we look alike? Nahhhh..love you sis! :)
