The Christmas Owls

13:58

Merry Christmas world!! The much anticipated day is finally here! Christmas has always been my favourite season of the year. I just love the spirit of Christmas revolving around thanksgiving, blessing others, giving and the beautiful festive decoration everywhere. Food and desserts are also following the trend of christmas, giving le foodie more choices to get fat. Most importantly, it is a time when we, as Christian are reminded about the love of God to us, sacrificing His one and only son to die for our sins. Anyway, how are you guys spending your Christmas day this year? If you are tired of malls and christmas parties, i have just a good way for you to spend your Christmas day with friends and families in this cozy little cafe--The Owls Cafe, Bukit Jalil.

A photo from www.mecoffeejourney.com because i forgot to capture a photo myself
Situated amidst the newly developed business area of Taman Bukit Jalil, The Owls Cafe can be easily spotted beside the main road. If you are travelling via KESAS highway, just take the Taman OUG and Bukit Jalil exit, after the traffic light, it should be seen on your right.

Always packed with crowd!

The photo taking corner!

I first heard about it through my juniors from Bukit Jalil campus since its opening, for their unforgettable waffle and rose latte. I personally been here twice but always miss the opportunity to get their waffle because of wrong timing. Be sure to catch them from 12noon-5pm Tuesdays-Sundays if you wanna have a bite on that signature waffles. I was more than curious to find out what's so amazing about their waffles so i ordered The Queen and David, with a slice of Tau Fu Fah Cheesecake by The Projectcaketherapy. On a previous visit, i also tried out their milk coffee and a slice of Black Sesame Cheesecake.

The Queen--RM 21
Flower petals waffle with 3 scoops of homemade ice-cream, macaron and little sugar snowman, drizzled with honey and icing sugar.

Would you just look at this work of art!

It certainly wasn't my first time eating waffle with ice-cream, but a waffle so artistic and beautiful, definitely my first. The Owls Cafe treats their waffle seriously. This waffle was perfectly sculptured by waffle artists, from the waffle to ice-cream, from flavors to colorful decoration, everything was spot on! The waffle is crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside, just the right texture i look for in waffles. It was topped with 3 scoops of homemade ice-cream, White Chocolate Lavender, Vanilla and Chocolate. These 3 flavors are both common and unique, acceptable by public. The best find is the unique White Chocolate Lavender ice-cream, with a refreshing and creamy flavor. Macaron i got was lemon  with apricot filling (if i am not mistaken). It was again, successfully passed as a good macaron. Last but not least, i love how The Owls changes their menu's details according to the season. During the Halloween period, a ghost sugar figurine was put on the dish and now, snowman because of Christmas! Thumbs up for creativity and thoughtfulness.

Perfect colour, feet and size.
Crumbled off as you bite in.
David--RM 18
Round waffle with banana, homemade vanilla ice-cream, chocolate sauce, chopped almonds and peanut butter on the side.
Next up, David was a conventional waffle we usually get from elsewhere. Chocolate, banana, peanut butter and vanilla-cream. I mean, what can go wrong with this combination? Yum yum in my tummy. I love how thoughtful they are to separate peanut butter from the waffle, in concern of those who are allergic to peanut. Again thumbs up!

Tau Fu Fah Cheesecake--RM 12

This unique cheesecake was supplied by The Projectcaketherapy, a local home bakers who also supplied a few different cafes around PJ and KL area, including myBurgerLab, Exhibit Cafe TTDI, AMPM Cafe USJ21, Brewmen Cafe in Solaris, Salt & Koffie Gallery in Jaya One and more. They are famous for their specialty cheesecake such as this, black sesame, teh tarik and many other delicious flavors. I personally like this soft and sweet cheesecake. It was drizzled with brown sugar syrup with a candied ginger, tasted just like a bowl of traditional tau fu fah with ginger syrup. I would prefer the tofu taste to be a little more intense.

1. Flat White-- RM 8
2. Nutty Latte--RM 10
3. Black Sesame Cheesecake--RM 12
Delicious desserts and drinks aside, The Owls Cafe is also a great place to chill and unwind with friends and families. Their simple and cozy interior deco gave a warm ambiance to the space. With christmas just around the corner, all the staffs were dressed in santa's hat and the cafe was colourfully decorated with ornaments.

chatty and friendly staffs just brought up the entire christmas atmosphere
The Owls Cafe also offers a small range of brunch and savoury waffle for those that long for some salt rather than sugar. I personally think that waffles here are expensive. Then again, these waffles are skillfully and creatively designed by waffle artist and all of great quality. I am not complaining! This is definitely the BEST waffle i have ever tasted in my life! Kudos to that! I hope you enjoy my update! Have a joyful Christmas! God bless! xoxo.
